Worship Services

Due to Coronavirus COVID-19 and in accordance with government regulations, the St John's and High Street Road Uniting Church Councils advise that all worship services and face-to-face meetings are suspended until further notice.

Thank you for your understanding during this very difficult time. We are all impacted by this.

Our prayers are with everyone, particularly those who are severely impacted. Take care of yourselves and each other and we will get through this together.

New Plan of Services - St John's and High Street Road Uniting Churches

As our two churches move towards becoming One Congregation, we are implementing a new plan of services.

Once it is deemed safe to do so, both congregations will worship together every Sunday, alternating between the two churches.

Every 1st, 3rd and 5th Sunday of the month we will hold a combined morning service of worship at St John's, commencing at the new time of 9:45 am. Service on the 5th Sunday will be conducted by our young people.
On the 3rd Sunday of the month, Early Hymn Singing will commence at 9:30 am prior to the service at St John's.

On the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month we will all worship in a combined service at High Street Road Uniting Church.

Congregational Prayer Meeting suspended

Our Sunday morning prayer meeting has been cancelled until further notice. We encourage you to continue to pray for the church family and the wider global community.

Loving and compassionate God, You call us to love our neighbours and to be bearers of your hope and grace in our world. Expand our hearts and vision to respond with compassion to those around us, who are struggling in this time of uncertainty, anxiety, grief and suffering. Give wisdom and strength to our health workers, and government officials, as they provide leadership in bringing our country through this crisis. We bring before you and into our hearts and minds:
  • Those whose work and income are uncertain
  • Those who are isolated
  • Those who are fearful of an unknown future
  • Those who are homeless, and all those who offer them support and care
  • Those who are involved in aged care – our agency leaders, staff and residents and their loved ones
  • Businesses whose futures are uncertain – their leaders and staff, School staff and students
  • Those with health conditions that put them at greater risk
Give wisdom and care-filled discernment to all our Church leaders – our Councils, and local congregations, as we seek to creatively live out our worship, witness and service in ways that offer Christ’s life-giving love and presence. Strengthen and sustain us to be your people – shaped by your abundant grace, bearers of your generosity and overflowing love. Through Christ our Light and Hope, we pray, Amen.

Cafe Closed Until Further Notice

Unfortunately, due to the escalation of coronavirus COVID-19, the St. John's Cafe will remain closed until further notice. We must consider the health and safety of our volunteers and clients, and follow the Australian Government regulations. We look forward to welcoming you back as soon as it is considered safe to do so.

Kids Hope Aus

Kids Hope Aus is a ministry aimed at creating a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable Australian children and their families. It is a mentoring program built on a long-term partnership between local churches and primary schools, where a caring adult from the church spends one hour each week with a child. St. John's and Park Lane Primary School have established just such a partnership and eight members of the church meet with the children each week.

Prayer Shawl Ministry - Knitters needed!

The Shawl Ministry is going ahead so well that we need people to knit more shawls. There is wool available in the office and Kathy Ferguson can advise if you need details. Please click here for more information on the Prayer Shawl Ministry.

Uniting - Victoria & Tasmania

Please support UNITING
What we do...

Uniting is the community services organisation of the Uniting Church in Victoria and Tasmania. We work to inspire people, enliven communities and confront injustice.

Your gift will go towards emergency relief such as:

  • Food - bread, hot meals, non-perishable items, grocery or meal vouchers. So homeless families know they won't go hungry.
  • Clothing - clothing and bedding is always urgently needed.
  • Medical help - the doctors' visits and medicines that the homeless can't afford. So illnesses don't have to go undiagnosed and untreated.
  • Crisis housing - putting roofs over the heads of the homeless through temporary shelter. They can then get help to find long-term affordable rental or public housing.

Donations will continue to support people who are most in need and the programs that are close to your heart. Uniting will continue delivering over 700 programs to our communities across Victoria and Tasmania.

If you wish to make a donation via St. John's to any of these appeals, please place an envelope, with your name, in the offering plate.

Personal donations may be sent to :

Level 6, 250 Victoria Parade
Telephone: 1800 668 426
